Pasifika Showcase 2016

After a 10 week program learning to reconnect with your Samoan heritage in regional Victoria and sharing in such learning with their peers it was time to share with families and friends and the whole community.

Enjoying Samoan cuisine our community were able to have a taste of the South Pacific right here in Greater Shepparton!

Pasifika Festival 2017

With the KYR Program growing and everyone wanting to learn more about our community a sit down dinner was not going to cut it – so a Pasifika Festival it was!

A festival for our Pasifika community, designed and created by Pasifika people with our talented young people at the centre!

Pasifika Festival 2018

A year to remember for the KYR program and in our greater community. It saw our program continue to grow and this time an opportunity for collaboration with Te Karangatahi Waka.

So many guest performances and aroha from all over Victoria for our young people at Pasifika Festival 2018!

Pasifika Festival 2019

KYR Program grew side ways and downwards with the program being offered to Primary Schools throughout the GV.

Adding the Pasifika Mana that begins at birth, this years Pasifika Festival was full of colour and so much alofa for our young people.

Our community showed up in numbers to celebrate our young people sharing who they are, as they are!

Pasifika Creative Leadership Camp 2019

The inaugural Pasifika Creative Leadership Camp held at Commonground, Seymour.

A partnership initiative of Know Your Roots Inc with PICAA and MAV it was a transformational and eye opening weekend for our young emerging Pasifika artists and cultural leaders from Shepparton learning together to learn from professional Pasifika artists and mentors from Melbourne.

Pasifika LEAD Shepparton

2020 changed so much for our programs especially our KYR program.

Pasifika LEAD Shepparton is a partnership between Charis Mentoring Inc. that saw our young people stay connected from a distance to explore and build on their leadership skills.

This was about seeing and hearing them and working with them to develop and create their Social Change project in the Goulburn Valley!

Engage & Thrive Project

A year to remember for the KYR program and in our greater community. It saw our program continue to grow and this time an opportunity for collaboration with Te Karangatahi Waka.

Voyage the Pasifika with Us - 2021 (Digital Event)

COVID – 19 did not allow our communities come together to celebrate our cultures in the way we prefer – face to face, so the next best thing was being able to do so via technology and digitally the best we could.

From our regional Victoria community of Pasifika, here are some highlights captured in still motion for you to enjoy.

We would like to acknowledge Liz Arcus Photography for always being available to capture every milestone in our programs and festivals for the past four years.  Liz has been able to capture our passions, talents, our people in their environment of cultural safety and we a super greatful for her work from 2016 to 2019.
